Appleby NewsLitter:

The ‘Appleby Litter Pickers’ are committed to keeping the roads around the village, Risby Road, Ermine Street north and south for around 2 miles clear of litter by performing regular ‘litter-picks’..
We have filled almost 2000 sacks to date!
As well as tv’s, gas cylinders, wheels and other large items,
we have also removed over 110 tyres from our verges!
During the winter of 2011/12 we litter-picked as far as Brigg, Broughton, Winterton and the A1077, covering around 90 miles of roadside verges.
Our progress may be monitored on the Litter Action and The Big Tidy Up websites.

Welcome to the Appleby Website!

The ‘Appleby - Lincolnshire’ web site, launched in 2003, is a purely personal project created to provide a virtual presence for our beautiful village on the world wide web.

Appleby is rich in history and agricultural tradition, boasting a beautiful Church and stunning village architecture including the 18th century stone cottages, Estate Cottages from the 19th century and the locally renowned Thatched Cottage!

Set in wonderfully rural surroundings it has retained a sense of community and self worth. I am proud to share with you some of the sights, characters and wonders, old and new, that have helped to form my love of Appleby and its heritage, together with an accompaniment of illustrative stories, photographs and poetry.

We welcome contributions from residents ‘old and new’!

If you have a tale to tell or wish to share knowledge, history or photographs, or to publicise news
or events that you think will interest other village residents, then please contact me.

The ‘Appleby - Lincolnshire’ web site was created to provide a personal and somewhat idiosyncratic presence for my lovely village - Appleby in North Lincolnshire, on the world wide web. The Website, launched 16 th May 2003, is a purely personal project illustrating those aspects of the village that I hold dear. Appleby is rich in history and agricultural tradition, boasting a beautiful Church and stunning village architecture. Set in wonderfully rural surroundings it has retained a sense of community and self worth. I am proud to share with you some of the sights, characters and wonders, old and new, that have helped to form my love of Appleby and its heritage, together with an accompaniment of illustrative stories, photographs and poetry. Seasonal features, local information and coverage of village events will be added frequently - so remember to visit us often to enjoy the latest developments.
